FRESH-CUT CHRISTMAS TREES
Every year, Colonial Gardens carries a large selection of fresh-cut Christmas trees delivered from farms along the East Coast. This year, we will have Fraser and Canaan Firs.
Fresh-cut Christmas trees are not only a wonderful family tradition, but also an eco-friendly way to celebrate the holidays. Our Christmas trees are grown on family farms before being harvested and delivered to us. Keeping in our commitment to sustainability, we offer a $50 rebate for returning your tree after the holidays for recycling. Please see all the details below.
Buying a Christmas Tree at
Colonial Gardens
- Trees are available for purchase just before Thanksgiving until they sell out. Look for extended hours between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
- Trees are individually priced based on size and quality. All trees should be marked with a tag. If you’re having trouble finding it, one of our staff would be happy to assist you!
- Trees are given a fresh-cut! They already have a hole drilled in them, but a new hole can be drilled if necessary. Our staff is happy to secure your tree to the top of your car. It can also be put through our baler (for netting), for an extra $2. Tips are not necessary, but always appreciated!
- We accepted cash, card, and mobile payments for Christmas trees at our register. When you purchase a qualifying tree, your receipt will be attached to the return and rebate instructions. It’s essential that you keep your receipt for your rebate!
Christmas Tree Recycling and Rebate
Fresh-cut Christmas trees are especially eco-friendly when you find a way to repurpose them after the holidays. When you purchase your tree from Colonial Gardens, we give you a gift certificate rebate and recycle your tree into mulch. These woodchips are used on our grounds and in community projects. The woodchips break down over time, their nutrients and carbon returning to the soil. This saves space in our landfills, provides resources for growing plants, and reduces your carbon footprint. You receive a $50 gift certificate to purchase items like plants from Colonial Gardens.

Here’s How It Works:
- If you purchase a full size Christmas tree at Colonial Gardens, you are eligible for a gift certificate rebate if you return your tree for recycling after the holidays. (Exemptions apply for table-top trees, donations, or discounted trees).
- Bring back your tree and receipt to Colonial Gardens by the end of January. You’ll drop your tree off in our drop-off pile. Please remove lights and any bags.
- Bring your receipt and green slip to the register! You’ll exchange it for your $50 gift certificate that can be used on a one-time purchase of anything in the store through June 30th of that year. That means that you can use it on gifts, any combination of plants, gardening items, and more.
Gift certificates cannot be exchanged for cash, nor will we give change for certificates that are not used all at once. Gift certificates cannot be used for online purchases or to purchase gift cards.
Types of Christmas Trees:
- Fraser firs: Fraser firs are known for the classic Christmas tree aroma and strong branches that hold heavier ornaments.
- Canaan Firs: A relative of the fraser fir, this tree has strong branches with a slightly citrus aroma.
We’re your one stop Christmas shop! We hand-craft wreaths and other fresh-cut greens, have over 1000 Christmas ornaments in our gift shop, sell poinsettias, and even host a light show. Come celebrate Christmas with us at Colonial Gardens!
