Colonial Gardens values integrity, reliability, team work, and a strong work ethic. Because we are a small team, we rely on each other to get things done. All candidates should be ready to be flexible in their daily tasks and to pitch in with other departments. Almost all roles are customer facing, so we need candidates that are happy to work with our customers and give them a good experience. While prior experience is valuable, we most need people who care about the quality of their work and are willing to grow to be their best selves in their role. Candidates must be at least 16 years old to work at Colonial Gardens.

Part Time:

Register Operator: Register operators help with customer checkout, answering phones, and assisting customers in locating products. During events, register operators may help with various positions around the store. Ideal candidates enjoy interacting with people, can communicate clearly with both customers and other staff, and enjoy learning new things. Hours vary across the year.
Wage Range: $14-$16/hr
Schedule: Flexible, at least one weekend day

Nursery Assistant: Nursery assistants at Colonial Gardens assist with plant maintenance, customer service, and event set-up, amongst other duties. This role is essential to the functioning of the store, providing flexible coverage where needed and helping customers load products into their vehicles.Ideal candidates can work on their feet for 8 hours in indoor and outdoor conditions and lift at least 50 lbs. regularly.
Wage Range: $14-$16/hr
Schedule: Flexible, at least one weekend day

Temporary: Fall

Tractor Driver: Tractor drivers operate our antique tractors that pull a wagon of guests on the route through our woods. Tractor drivers must be at least 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license, and be able to pass a written exam and background check. Ideal candidates have some experience operating large vehicles.
Wage Range: $20/hr
Schedule: Flexible. Hayrides run daily from September 19th to November 2nd

Delivery Driver: Delivery drivers are most needed during our Mulch Madness delivery special from mid-March until the end of April. They would be responsible for driving a dump truck to residential locations, safely and accurately dumping mulch or soil, and returning to the store for the next delivery. Drivers should be able to obtain a CDL to operate larger trucks. With the launch of an online floral shop, delivery drivers may also deliver fresh floral arrangements, plants, or bagged products, depending on ability.
Wage Range: $20/hr

Start: Mid-March

Full Time:

Landscaping Lead: The next step in your landscaping career! Landscaping Leads primarily work off grounds to professionally install landscape designs. The lead is responsible for ensuring jobs are completed to company standards and that the crew works safely and efficiently. When not working on landscape installations, team members may work on Colonial Gardens’ property performing tasks like plant care, general maintenance of company grounds, and set up and operation of seasonal events. Landscape team members work from spring to late fall. Team members that work at least 1500 hours over the course of the year are considered full time and qualify for benefits

Ideal candidates are hardworking with a good attitude. Preferred candidates will have experience in installing professional landscape designs, demonstrated leadership abilities, and knowledge of plants.

Wage Range: $25-$30/hr
Start: March

Landscaping Specialist: Landscaping specialists primarily work off grounds to professionally install landscape designs. When not working on landscape installations, team members may work on Colonial Gardens’ property performing tasks like plant care, general maintenance of company grounds, and set up and operation of seasonal events. Landscape team members work from spring to late fall. Team members that work at least 1500 hours over the course of the year are considered full time and qualify for benefits.

Ideal candidates are hardworking with a good attitude. Preferred candidates will have experience in installing professional landscape designs, knowledge of plants, or a degree related to plant science.

Wage Range: $20-$25/hr
