What We’re Looking For:
Colonial Gardens values integrity, reliability, team work, and a strong work ethic. Because we are a small team, we rely on each other to get things done. All candidates should be ready to be flexible in their daily tasks and to pitch in with other departments. Almost all roles are customer facing, so we need candidates that are happy to work with our customers and give them a good experience. While prior experience is valuable, we most need people who care about the quality of their work and are willing to grow to be their best selves in their role. Candidates must be at least 16 years old to work at Colonial Gardens.

Haunted Trail and Maze Actors
Actors: Actors work on the haunted hayride or the haunted hedge maze to scare guests while in costume. Actors work on Fridays, Saturdays, and/or Sundays in October from 6:45 until the event ends, typically around 10pm. Actors are not required, or guaranteed to work every day of the event. Scheduling will be determined after orientation based on availability. Qualified applicants will receive a follow-up email with orientation information and employment paperwork. Pay rate varies by experience and skill set: $12-$16/hr.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to perform their job in outdoor conditions, in the dark, with may include activities such as running, climbing, and/or acting
- Must do their job with enthusiasm and follow the guidelines set forth by Colonial Gardens as part of a safe and satisfying entertainment event
- Must be at least 16 years old by October 1st (no exceptions, as per PA labor laws). 16 and 17 year olds must provide a copy of their working papers and fill out a performer permit as required by state law.
- Must be able to pass a background check if 18 years and older
- Must have reliable transportation and means of communication.

Part Time:
Temporary: Fall
Tractor Driver: Tractor drivers operate our antique tractors that pull a wagon of guests on the route through our woods. Tractor drivers must be at least 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license, and be able to pass a written exam and background check. Ideal candidates have some experience operating large vehicles.
Wage Range: $20/hr
Schedule: Flexible. Hayrides run daily from September 19th to November 2nd
Register Operator: Register operators help with customer checkout, answering phones, and assisting customers in locating products. During events, register operators may help with various positions around the store. Ideal candidates enjoy interacting with people, can communicate clearly with both customers and other staff, and enjoy learning new things. Hours vary across the year.
Wage Range: $14-$16/hr
Schedule: Flexible, at least one weekend day
Nursery Assistant: Nursery assistants at Colonial Gardens assist with plant maintenance, customer service, and event set-up, amongst other duties. This role is essential to the functioning of the store, providing flexible coverage where needed and helping customers load products into their vehicles.Ideal candidates can work on their feet for 8 hours in indoor and outdoor conditions and lift at least 50 lbs. regularly.
Wage Range: $14-$16/hr
Schedule: Flexible, at least one weekend day
